It is New Years in New York and after a hectic run through the streets and an unplanned encounter between face and pavement Jake finds himself in a small diner believing that he has escaped his pursuer. Tucking into his meal a shadow falls across the table and in a brief moment Jake finds himself sitting opposite his former girlfriend with a revolver aimed directly at his crotch. In summary that is the opening chapter of Nick Duerden debut novel and the remainder of the story set out to recount the events that have left Jake is this particular situation.
