Advantages: really is an excellent all round book
Disadvantages: you will be disapointed if you watch the movie after the book
Thomas Harris is proving to be an excellent writer, silence of the lambs was the first book by Thomas Harris that I read. Silence of the lambs tells the story of a young fbi agent who is assigned the case of catching a serial killer. The killer is abducting plumpish women, keeping them in a pit for a while, then killing them and skinning them, for the purpose of making himself into a woman by sewing skin from different victims together, urgh!. Starling the agent goes to visit Hannibal the cannibal for a profile of the killer, hannibal sees the young agent as a way for him to escape, so he does a deal and gives the profile. The events are dramatic and the story line never loses it`s edge, hannibal gets what he wants and is transported, during which he gets the opportunity to escape. The hunt for the killer continues with Starling getting closer and closer until eventually unknown to her, she is at the house of the murderer, after finding things in the house which lead her to realise that this is where the killer lives, she swings into action, all alone, her against the killer, of course starling guns down the murderer, not before he gives her a good run around. So starling is hailed a heroine, and the door is left open for the deadly hanibal to re appear. The movie was nothing like the book, the book was much more detailed and lots more in it, it was really gripping stuff, I read the book before the movie, this made the movie a disapointment to me, as I was expecting it to be more like the book.
