Looking through the thriller section, I picked this book up randomly. Turned out to be a good choice. The story is based around partners Michelle Maxwell and Sean King (although there is chemistry there, at the moment they're simply colleagues). Both are private detectives, but Michelle is going through a bad patch. This isn't the first in the series, but I gathered that during their last book Michelle's boyfriend was a serial killer.
