So Wendy Holden decided to write a chick lit novel. How did she go about it, what did she come up with and put into her book to get the readersīattention and satisfy their expectations? I imagine it like this: SETTING Deffo London! Nether-Piddleton-on-the-Marshes just isnīt the right setting for this kind of literature, firstly because many of the target readers live in London and the ones who donīt would like to, secondly because name dropping applies also to places and the Savoy sounds better than the Hare and Hounds, thirdly readers have always liked to recognise places and thanks to the media they know their way around London better than around ... I must admit that I’ve been caught out being particularly disorganised - I forgot to check that the product I’d reviewed actually had a category on the site before I planned to post it yesterday! So instead, I thought I should try to finish this book review that’s been giving me some trouble in polishing off. Apologies first off, then, if this isn’t up to my usual standard (I have standards? Woho!! :o) !), but this isn’t my usual type of reading matter. That Simply Divine isn’t my usual choice of book is, I feel, a particularly important point to mention, as it does affect my perceptions: some people love the frothy ... Read the complete review

pLoT sUmMaRy..... In typical chick - lit style, Jane is a journalist for a glossy magazine with an ordinary life. Stress at work, in her love life as well as desperately trying to shed that extra bit of weight puts her at complete odds with the woman she has to write about: Champagne D'Vyne. Champagne is a socialite that lives an unbelievable lifestyle full of rich men, parties and glamorous photo shoots. Champagne's increasingly demanding attitude soon starts to grate on Jane as she realises that Champagne will not let anything - least of all Jane - get in her way. rEvIeW.... On the surface, this book has nothing ... Read the complete review

The Plot Jane is a career-minded journalist who works on a high-profile magazine in London. First of all, she is working for "Gorgeous", but later is poatched by their rival "Fabulous". She finds herself working with "It" girl Champagne d'Vyne, whose column she ends up writing on a regular basis. Getting the necessary information out of Champagne is not as easy as Jane first assumes as she has a hectic life of partying and chasing men. In the midst of all of this, Jane meets Tom, who lives in the flat above hers. After a one-night stand, he leaves for New York, leaving no way for her to contact him. Alongside the Jane-Champagne ... 'Just got back from shooting,' honked Champagne 'With the Sisse-Pooles in Scotland, Bloody awful.' 'Oh I hate blood sports too,' agreed Jane. 'Hideously cruel,' Champagne agreed, much to Jane's surprise. 'Making people stagger over the moors in the peeing rain wearing clothes the colour of snot is absolutely the worst, the most inhumane thing you can do to anyone' I love this book! Every paragraph and conversation is light, funny and captures the characters personalities perfectly. I 'honked' at every page! + Setting + The book is set in London with a few visits to a country mansion called 'Mullions' which is almost what its ... Read the complete review
