... the present - Slash does not miss out a single detail. His brutal honesty, combined with his very personal input leaves you feeling like you've known him forever and been with him drinking in the Whisky A Go Go, live on stage with him during a Guns n Roses gig and partying with him in some dodgey drug filled aftershow party. A surprising tale that makes you wonder how anyone could survive such an 'excessive' rock n roll lifestyle and live to write the book. Each page leaves you hanging on for more. I didn't want ...more

Premium Review Slash - Slash: Tales from the rock (and roll) face (and hat) (606 words)
by - written on 25/03/09 (Very useful, 34 readings)
Rating:

'Slash' is both the title and the subject of this autobiography of the former Guns N Roses guitarist, also known as Saul Hudson (see, even his real name is cool). This book is co-written by Slash and Anthony Bozza, and you get the distinct impression throughout the book that what that meant was, Slash lying on the floor reminiscing , and Anthony Bozza writing everything down:) My copy is paperback, and cost me around £9 from Amazon upon its' release, however a quick search today tells me that it's now available for around £4. The book is 458 pages long, with loads of great photos, of both this fantastic looking man, and all his showbiz ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review I used to love her, but I had to kill her........... (493 words)
by - written on 29/11/08 (Very useful, 48 readings)
Rating:

Slash- subtitled "It seems excessive but that doesn't mean it didn't happen"- is a frank, often shocking account of the life until now of the former Guns 'n' Roses guitarist now playing with metal band, Velvet Revolver. Starting with his early childhood and his life growing up in the company of celebrities such as David Bowie, the novel traces Slash's roots and his part in the rise of what would become known as "the most dangerous band in the world;" Guns 'n' Roses. From the close bond he formed with Izzy Stradlin to the sacking from the band of Steven Adler right through to the band's disintergaration and his falling out with front man, Axl Rose, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Slash - Slash: Slashworld Unlimited (1521 words)
by - written on 31/07/09 (Very useful, 97 readings)
Rating:

An autobiography written with Anthony Bozza and published at the end of 2007, this gives Slash's first hand account of his life, up until the date of publication of the book. ~ About Slash ~ Born Saul Hudson in London, England, Slash moved to Los Angeles as a child, and eventually became a guitar player, forming Guns N' Roses in the early 80s. As the guitarist of Guns N' Roses and co-author of some of the best known and most successful rock songs ever written, Slash is arguably one of the best guitar players and certainly one of the most recognisables figures in rock. Notorious for the outrageous lifestyle and behaviours that Guns N' Roses ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Slash's mad life (213 words)
by - written on 25/09/09 (Very useful, 18 readings)
Rating:

This biography on Slash's life appealed to me due to being in a band myself and i wanted to read about the experience of a true rock n roll band behind the scenes. It was everything i wanted and thought it would be. This story is very honest and paints a real picture to hard core rock and roll bands. Some of the stories are so mad that you wander how he is still with us. It starts when he is a kid and goes right the way through the beginnings of the bands formation and touring from small to bigger gigs. It is the real personal stories that make this book stand out. One of the stand out stories to me was when he was showering and he ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Slash - Slash: not a single detail left out (161 words)
by - written on 04/11/09 (Useful, 11 readings)
Rating:

For all rock fans everywhere - a must read if you like particularly Guns n Roses. Slash is an unbelievable yet believable (just because it's Slash) account of the rise to fame and the fortunes of the legend himself. An absolutely outstanding retelling of the story from birth to the present - Slash does not miss out a single detail. His brutal honesty, combined with his very personal input leaves you feeling like you've known him forever and been with him drinking in the Whisky A Go Go, live on stage with him during a Guns n Roses gig and partying with him in some dodgey drug filled aftershow party.
