I have just read an opinion on Dooyoo about a Wilbur Smith book and it reminded me that I read one of his books years ago when I was first married. My then husband was a great Wilbur Smith fan and he recommended that I read Eagle In The Sky as he thought that I would like it. He was spot on; it is a brilliant book, so I thought I would tell you about it. Wilbur Smith has got to be one of the finest modern authors around. I first heard of him when I was still at school when a teacher tried to persuade me to read River God. I borrowed the book from her but never got past the first chapter… well, at fifteen I had more important things to think about, like make up and cider!! I didn’t really think about the book again until my Mam bought me it as a present about three years later.
