This opinion is about the author Wilbur Smith. Wilbur Smith writes adventure books that are suitable for teenagers and above. His books mostly involve the wilds of Africa where he gives accurate discriptions of how Nelson Mandela came in to power after defeating the racsist Boers of Africa. He also gives accounts on the zulus, matebele, mashone and the xhosa tribes, that all live down in zimbabwe and south africa. Hi stories involve the Courtney familly who start off fighting the Germans in the first world war and the move to Africa where they establish friends and become one of the richest famillies in the south of the continent. This all takes place over a period of about 15 books all of which are 'must reads'. All these books would not appeal to the typical english teacher who loves poetry, they will appeal to all people who enjoy a good read with action, adventure and romance.
Wibur Smith writes the best adventure books that i have ever read and i am sure all people who have read them would agree with me. What it is that i raelly enjoy about these books is the excitment, thrill and tension which they create. You feel that you have to keep on reading or else you will miss something and you feel the will to want to know what happens next. He really makes you appreciate the troubles that the tribes of Africa and the Boers had to put up with back then. It is very discriptive writing and characters have many fine and detailed qualities which you may only find out about in later books. So in my opinion they are worth the effort of reading and will keep oyur imagination running for weeks on end.
Best reads-Monsoon (new release)
-Eagle in the sky (This is not a book about the courtneys of but is just a storey about a israeli fighter pilot who has every thing a man could possibly want until he loses it all in one sheer act of patriotism.)
These books can be bought in most good book shops and cost about £6.99 each
