I think everyone on my Sociology course at university had a copy of this book. It's a brilliant introduction to sociology for anyone who is encountering the subject for the first time. It covers the main sociological theories and how they apply to different topics, such as education, the family etc. It's also essential for when you haven't done your homework and need to quickly brush up on what you "should" know! This book really comes into it's own when researching for essays as it gives you a short introduction to your chosen topic, an overview of the most important theory and has a brilliant bibliography. If you are an A-level student or about to start a sociology course at university it's worth investing in this book. Summary: |
