Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball - Vicki Churchill ... There are plenty of things he enjoys doing: shouting at the top of his voice for no reason, stepping in circles until he falls over, poking out his tongue and pulling funny faces, getting in a muddy mess... but can you guess what Wombat likes to do best of all?

Newest Review: ... thing he likes to do most is curl up into a ball to sleep and be quiet. He runs about, plays, is mischievous and downright ... more

You don't see a huge amount of stories about wombats (I can think of Wombat in the Wild, Wombat Goes Walkabout, One Wooly Wombat, Found You Little Wombat and The Wombat Who Talked to the Stars...ok, so there's more than I first remembered), so I thought this was a little bit different and worthy of more than just a cursory glance for those icky things to clean off! Sometimes is more of a bedtime story and isn't particularly ch...more

Premium Review Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball - Vicki Churchill: Having a Ball with Wombat! (992 words)
by - written on 28/04/08 (Very useful, 99 readings)
Rating:

If you have read some of my previous reviews you are probably aware I love looking at Children's Books. This is quite fortunate because part of my job (when I'm working in the Children's Library) is to check the returned picture books for various baby and toddler induced stains ~ a variety of scribble, drool and some things that it's best not to think too long about! Sometimes this is messy, but it also gives me a chance to keep up to date on what the little people are enjoying and what they may like to hear at our regular Storytime sessions. Sometimes I Like to Curl up in a Ball is written by Vicki Churchill and illustrated by Charles Fuge. They are a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Let's Scream and Pull Funny Faces (557 words)
by - written on 25/04/08 (Very useful, 111 readings)
Rating:

Sometimes I Like to Curl up in a Ball by Vicki Churchill is the tale of Little Wombat and the things he enjoys doing. He knows, for example, that when he curls up in a ball no-one can see him. Other activities he delights in include screaming, running, pulling funny faces, and getting in a muddy mess. Oh, to be a Little Wombat. But at the end of the day, after all those antics, that's when he likes to curl up into a ball, cuddled up next to Mum, of course. This is a beautiful ...  Read the complete review
