Advantages: A great book for anyone whose child loves in the night garden

Disadvantages: Your child may become addicted and want you to read it again and again!!!

Anybody out there who is a parent to a young child will have heard of the programme In the night garden, which is shown on the CBeebies channel!! I first started watching this programme when my god daughter was about 8 months old, whenever she used to stay at our house she insisted on watching this programme!! At first I thought it was an absolute load of rubbish, but I must admit I soon became drawn to it and found myself singing along to all their silly songs!!

In May last year we had our first Son, he is now 9 months old and starting to pay an interest to what is on television, so for a little while each day I will sit with him and watch a children's programme. He soon became a big fan of in the night garden!!

For Christmas this year I bought the book, Songs and rhymes from In the night garden for my son. I bought it from Play.com (you will be starting to see that I purchase nearly everything from play.com!!!) for the price of £7.49 including free delivery.

The book itself measures about 26cm by 26cm, so is quite a big book and it has a lovely, blue padded cover which has on it all the characters from In the night garden. The title of the book is printed at the top of the front cover in lovely, silver, sparkly letter which makes the book look very impressive. Each page is made of thick cardboard so cannot be easily torn or chewed by little fingers!!

Each page of the book has all the songs and rhymes from In the night garden. For those of you that have never seen or heard of this programme, the main characters in it are as follows - the ninky nonk, the pinky ponk, Makka Pakka, Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy, The tombliboos, The pontipines, the Haahoos and the Tittifers! I know these all sound like a lot of nonsense but children love them all!! Each character has its own song or rhyme that is played when they come onto the screen, so when you watch the programme every day you soon become familiar with the songs and find yourself singing along to them!!

This book is lovely for people that are familiar with In the night garden as you can sit and read it with your child and also sing along to all the songs, although they do take a lot of getting used to with all the funny words they have in them!! My son loves this book and will sit for hours while I read it again and again to him!!! I would greatly recommend this book to any in the night garden fans!

Summary: A lovely book to read.
