Advantages: Lots of ideas

Disadvantages: Check you have the equipment and materials first

'Sparkly Things to Make and Do' is one of many in the make and do range designed by Usborne books. It is full of practical and enjoyable ideas for making all things sparkly!

Inside you will find instructions for making a Sparkly heart strings, Flower fairy tiara, Frosted flowers, Shimmery bead chains, Mermaid bookmark, Spangly butterflies, Sparkling boxes, Shimmering shapes, Glitter bugs, Flying fairy card, Ice castle collage, Sparkly picture frame, Twinkling twirlers, Decorated elephants, Dazzling party masks, Glittery winged unicorns and Gift tag ideas. Each fun activity has bright and colourful and simple instructions. There are also over 200 stickers that could be used for any activity within the ideas or for use in other activities at home.

The instructions are simple as they are broken down into small points, most are also have a diagram that helps to show what you need to do next. I would suggest that you have a read through the instructions first to ensure you have all the equipment and materials you need. The equipment you need would usually be found around the house, paint, glue, string and card are often required so hopefully you have some of these items in the art box. And of course you are going to need lots of things that are aparkly so be prepared - glitter, shiny beads, foil etc.

The book encourages children to develop their artistic skills as well. You can adpat many of teh ideas in this book to suit your need, for example, making Christmas gift tags. This book would be suitable for girls and would be recommended for ages 4+ years. I would add that the younger the child is the greater the supervision they will require.

The book is £4.99 and is published by Usborne books.

Summary: Great book, would be a good Christmas gift!
