Advantages: Suprise twists, descriptive passages, good character development

Disadvantages: Weak ending

This is yet another great science fiction novel from a brilliant author, in which nothing is quite how it seems. It is as much a psychological thriller as it is a science fiction thriller.

A group of scientists is assembled to investigate a spacecraft found at the bottom of the pacific ocean. Inside the spaceship, they discover a hollow sphere. After one of the party enters into it and return with a raging headache, strange and frightening incidents start to occur...

As always the book contains lots of genuine science, including quoting the Drake equation for predicting how many planets out there may have actually developed an intelligent civilisation. It is a well written novel and has fantastic character development in it.

The only criticism is that the ending is possibly a little weak, as they seem to wrap the whole incident up quite nicely.

Please don't be tempted to watch the Sharon Stone movie - it's very poorly done compared to the book.

Summary: A very gripping book that's not what you expect

That's a bit better; more about the style of narrative would help further.
