Kipper story books appeal to young children due to the simple story plots and lovely pictures. The author Mick Inkpen is also the author of other modern classics such as wibbly pig which can now also be seen on Cbeebies. My daughter is a huge fan of all kipper books. I say umbrella carrying because we meet Kipper on the first page, holding his umbrella with the rain going "Splash!" on the aforementioned umbrella. We are introduced therefore immediately to the format of the book. Each page starts with a sound...splash; splosh; flash; drip, drip, drip; hop squelch;a a a tishoo;slop slap. Great words, which children will easily give an action to. The sound words are in inverted commas, and ... Read the complete review
