Spot The Dog 8 Books in a Rucksack......
Spot the dog has been around for many years now and is a loveable character that I grew up watching on telly and reading in books. Jack has a rather large collection of Spot the dog books in board back and most of them are the lift the flap variety. It wasn't until I saw this collection of books for sale from the Book People when they were brought into work a few months back.
Now the age range on these books are from 3 to 5 but I would say that is when a child can begin to read these for themselves. I however have been reading these books to Jack at bedtime as they are just the right length and Jack loves them.
For all 8 hardback books but paper pages held within a small clear plastic rucksack I paid a brilliant price of £4.99p even though the RRP is £20 but the Book People are pretty good at offering a low price. The books are published by the Penguin Group and are presented in a really wonderful way as they have bright pictures and easy to follow story lines.
The eight book titles are: Spots Birthday, Spot's Tummy Ache, Spot's Camping Trip, Spot's Show and Tell, Time for Bed Spot, Spot's New Game, Spot in the Garden and Spot and his Grandma. Each book has a different colour cover and has the classic drawings of Spot and all his friends. Our favourite one has got to be Spot in the garden as Jack is a real outdoor toddler and loves being outside looking at all the new things and different plants and animal and this is perhaps why he picks this one to read to most often.
Time for bed Spot is probably our second favourite because in this Spot tries a lot of things to make himself sleepy enough to get into bed and some of the things he tries include dressing up as a cow boy or playing with his train set (things that Jack loves!)
Eric Hill, the author of the Spot stories has really done himself proud with every Spot book in this collection and all other Spot books too. These books are lovely to look at and even better to read. The stories are clear and easy to follow and would be perfect for a new reader to try out all all the easy words.
I would rate these books highly as the price I paid was very cheap and works out around 60 pence per book a price that I feel it fairly unbeatable. The pictures are all drawn well and brightly coloured as well as the stories being written well and easy to follow I don't think you could ask for more in a collection of children's story books.
A five star rating I do believe is right for these books and a very high recommendation. I do hope this has been of some help/interest to you. Thanks for taking the time to read.
Summary: a great collection
