Eric Hill
~~~~~~~~~
Eric Hill was born in London on the 7th of September 1927.
He has over the years written and drawn strips for in papers, and magzines.
But in 1976, his first child Christopher was born.
Eric decided to set to work on a story, that he would be able to read to his precious son when he was slightly older.
It was a story about a little puppy. He worked on it for a while, and by the time christopher was two, the book was ready to read to him as a bedtime story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spots First book
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eric hill decided that he wanted this book published. His little boy loved it, so why shouldn't other children too. So in 1980, when the first spot book was published, he was over the moon. And on many book shelves appeared, Where's Spot?
About Spot
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Spot is a little yellow puppy, who has a large brown spot on his right hand side. He is a very friendly puppy, who is curious, of all that goes on around him. He loves to discover everything, and always has a go.
Spot shares all his first expieriences with us, to help little ones through theirs.

Spot has a nice family. I shall introduce you to them.

Spots Mummy - Spots mummy is called sally. She is always looking out for spot, and is there to look after him through his adventures.

Spots Daddy - Spots Daddy is called Sam. He isn't around that much, as he works very hard. He is a farmer, and drives a big tractor. Spot likes to meet the animals on his daadys farm.

Spots Sister - Spots sister is called Susie. She is only in the more recent books. She came around after a grand parent wrote to Eric Hill and adviced that it was about time Spot got a brother or sister.

Spots Grandma - Spots Grandma hasn't been given a name, as far as i'm aware. Spot loves reading and baking with his grandma.

Spots Grandpa - Spots Grandpa, is also nameless. When he was younger Grandpa used to be a fireman. He still has the old fire engine. Spot and his friends love going for rides on it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spots Friends
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Spot has lots of friends. But he has three bestfriends. I shall introduce to them too.

Steve - Steve is a little brown monkey. He can be very mischevieous at times. He lives next door to spot, so they see a lot of each other.

Helen - Helen is a blue hippo. She loves to dance around doing her ballet. But she also loves joining in spots adventures.

Tom - Tom is a friendly green crocodile. He is full of fun, and likes to know what spot is up to. They love getting up to adventure together.

Stop around the world
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Spot has been published in over 65 different languages, and is available in over 100 countries worldwide.
But his name changes from country to country.
For expample:
In Holland he's called - Dribbel
In Sweden he's called - Tippens
In portugal he's called - Bolinha
and so on.
He is just as popular in all countries, and there are over 40 million spot books in circulation worldwide. In some countries he even features on nappies and jars of baby food. He's a very well loved little puppy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What make spot appealing to children?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He is a friendly little puppy, who can be in their lives from birth. The pictures are large and colourful, and attractive to children. They have large writting, so they feel they can read them to you alot easier. Spot also shares the same expierences in life as a child. Like first day at school, first easter, and much more.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Educational
~~~~~~~~~~~
Spot books are very educational, but fun at the sametime. Even in the baby books, they encourage children to learn their colours, shapes and numbers.
As the child gets older, he/she will be able to read them for them selves.
~~~~~~~~~~
The books
~~~~~~~~~~
Spot has many different types of books.
Lift and Flap
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He has many lift and flap books. These are very popular with children, as they can be very involved in the storys. Finding things, and lifting the flaps is great fun. These books include:
Where's spot?
Who's there spot?
Spot can count.
And Spots first walk.
But i think there are around 14 spot lift and flap books.

Baby books
~~~~~~~~~~
They do different kinds of baby books. The do board books, which include;
Spot helps out and spot in the garden. These are great for babys, as they can not rip them.
They also do touch and feel books, like Hello spot. These are lovely, and the young ones love to feel the pages.
Audio books
~~~~~~~~~~~

These are a bit like story tellers. the door them for toddlers, up to slightly older children.
Toddler ones are cd, and book. They include;
Time for bed spot.
And New game spot.
These are lovely to sit and listen to together.

Sound books
~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are the books with the button panel on the side. The child can follow the story, and press the buttons when the book tells them to.
Kids love anything that makes sound. These include;
Rainy day spot
Spots Bid Nursery song book
And Noisy walk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Where can i buy them? and how much?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can get them in most book shops. But spot does have his own online store. At WWW.spotsonlinebookstore.co.uk.
Prices range from book to book. But here is a rough guide.
Lift and Flaps £4.99 - £7.99
Baby books £4.99 - £6.99
Board books £2.99 - £4.99
Audio Books £5.99
Sound Books £7.99
Well i hope you all love these books as much as i do. My kids think they are great and always enjoy reading them. We love the pictures. they are simple, but still nice to look at. I would advise these books for children aged birth - 3 years.
I hope you've enjoyed my review.
