When I was about seven or eight years old and in primary school , my teacher used to make us take home two books a week , one Welsh and one English , so that we could practise reading at home. While most of my friends didn't like the whole reading thing , I absolutely loved it and would often take home a new book everyday , take it home to read that night then return it the next day and choose another book and do the same again. I also think that this was the reason why my teachers praised my spelling and reading skills so much when I was younger , because I read so much. One of the books I used to love was out of the 'Spot the Dog' series by Eric Hill. This ... Read the complete review

As a child, I remember being very fond of the loveable Spot, both in book form and the cartoon. He is an animated puppy created by Eric Hill in 1980, and has been a popular kids' choice in bookshops ever since. Hill has written a number of Spot books featuring Spot, his mum and dad and a number of his friends. This particular book, Spot Goes To The Farm, sees an excited Spot being taken to the farm by his dad with a promise that there are some baby animals to find. Each page features a different animal, and behind a flap is the animal with a speech bubble telling you what noise the animal makes visible before the flap is lifted. By the end of the book, Spot ... Spot Goes To The Farm - by Eric Hill Everyone must surely be aware of the Spot books Eric Hill first created Spot back in 1980 and the cute dog character has been a firm favourite for pre-school children ever since. I have fond memories of my childhood when these books were pride of place on my bookshelf and today they are pride of place on Jack book shelf. Spot is a cute, chubby and friendly dog that gets up to all sorts of mischief. In this book I am reviewing Spot takes a trip to the farm. This particular book I have is a board book but the same book is available in hardcover with paper pages or indeed soft paper cover ... Read the complete review

Springtime is fast approaching and trips to farms etc make this book all the more exciting for pre-school children. ******** The Story ******** As the title suggest, this book is all about Spot's visit to the farm and even more appealing to children is the use of baby animals! Spot's Dad takes him to a farm with the promise that he has some baby animals to show him, but which babies are they? And so begins the hunt around the farm for the animals: " Are they in the stable?" " Are they in the barn?" As they go on the hunt for the baby animals, the horse behind the stable door ... a very substantial study of Fulci’s work; features a deep and complex analysis if some of Fulci’s films without becoming pretentious; surprisingly, for a book of this nature, the text is very readable in all but a couple of places.
further study of the man himself, especially with regard to the effect his harsh family life and severe illness in later life, might have lead to even further insight into the films.
