Advantages: good plot, lots of characters

Disadvantages: Predictable King ending

When I was younger (a lot younger!) I used to read a lot. I would average maybe a book a week, or even more, if I wasn't at school. I can't remember how I got round to reading Stephen King - I think it was after watching 'Salems Lot on the telly, and it scared me silly. So, I'd read an article somewhere about a book of his that deals with a killer disease spreading acroos the world, and I decided to read it.

From the very first page, the story reached out, grabbed hold, and didn't let go until the final sentence. As with most of his work, he sometimes tends to be a bit over descriptive, using a page or so when a paragraph will do, which is why a lot of his books are 1000 plus pages.

The characters are well rounded, and there are a lot of characters that are central to the plot, which I though was a bit different, instead of having maybe only 3 or 4.

I would have liked to have seen a bit more about the evil side of things in Las Vegas, rather than concentrating on Boulder - why did the people join the "evil" side? How did they get their community up and running? Things like that, but overall, I think that Stephen King did an excellent job of the story.

My most major critiscm is about the ending, where, like a lot of King books, the good guys suddenly come into possession of magic power, which enables them to defeat the baddies - IT, Needful Things, The Stand and 'Salems Lot to an extent all have these types of ending, but this is only realy a problem if you read a lot of Stephen Kings work...

I'm led to belive too, that in the uncut version, there's even a cliffhanger ending!
