You, Me, Little Bear - Martin Waddell

Premium Review Doing It Together (758 words)

*Background* Martin Waddell has written quite a few books over the years including this immensely popular series of Little Bear stories. He has won many awards for his fantastic storybooks including a Smarties Award for Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear. Barbara Firth is the illustrator for this book. She is a big part of making this series so successful with her lovely realistic drawings of animals. *The Story* The story begins, “Once there were two bears, Big Bear and Little Bear. Big Bear is the big bear and Little Bear is the little bear. Little Bear wanted to play, but Big Bear had things to do.” As we turn the pages we see that Big Bear has lots of jobs to do, ...

Snow Bears Another lovely book by the very popular author, Martin Waddell; this is one of those stories which can be read to very young children The Story and Illustrations The story focuses on a mummy bear and her three young bears, and when we first meet them, mummy has come out of the house to find her babies covered in snow. When she tells them they look like snow bears, they decide that is what they are, and asks them where her baby bears have gone. This picture is delightful- mummy standing in the snow with a log cabin behind her and her three bears standing looking expectantly at her. All very idyllic. The game begins as the baby bears tell mummy bear that they ...

have a thing for Walker books. In my experience, they are all wonderful stories with excellent illustrations, and Snow Babies is no exception. Snow Babies is written by Martin Waddell, who has produced other gems such as Owl Babies, Let’s Go Home Little Bear, and Can’t You Sleep Little Bear. All of which I have read to my girls in the past, and which they have enjoyed immensely. This story is on an even par with all his others, as my children both enjoyed it. The book is illustrated by Sarah Fox-Davies, who’s work I am unfamiliar with, but the illustrations in this book are more than adequate.I will keep a look out for any others she may have done, and update ...
