      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Read this novel and unleash the power of the Dark Side of the Force !!!

      ~ YOU UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE !!! ~

      If your experience of Star Wars is limited to the movies then you will have a certain amount of understanding of the phrase "Sith Lord" and will have seen a number of Sith Lords in action (such as Darth Maul, Darth Tyrannus, Darth Sidious and of course - Darth Vader).

      Some of you may even have played many of the popular Star Wars console/computer games and may have come across characters such as Darth Revan (Knights Of The Old Republic).

      There are, however, many more great Star Wars characters that exist (especially within books and graphic novels). Infact, one of the most fascinating and complex Sith Lords to have ever have been created has recently been plucked out of the world of comics (where he made a brief appearance) and has become the central character in a brand new trilogy of books. The name of that character is "Darth Bane" and if you thought Maul, Tyrannus and Sidious were interesting characters then I would strongly recommend that you take a trip into the world of Darth Bane ... because (to quote a good friend of mine) "he makes Darth Vader look like a pansy" !!!

      ~ STAR WARS NOVELS: BACKGROUND INFORMATION ~

      The many characters, creatures, vehicles and locations that were originally created by George Lucas as part of the STAR WARS franchise have inspired a whole new generation of writers to create their very own stories set in a "Galaxy far, far away" !!!

      These stories (often referred to collectively as the Expanded Universe Novels) have been written over the past 30 years by some of the world's leading sci-fi authors.

      ~ A FEW HELPFUL FACTS ~

      Darth Bane: Path of Destruction is the first book of the new "Darth Bane Trilogy" and was written by Drew Karpyshyn.

      The events within this STAR WARS novel take place 1000 years prior to the events of the original Star Wars movie (Episode 4: A New Hope)

      The novel is set during the "Old Repulblic Era".

      ~ DARTH BANE: PATH OF DESTRUCTION ~

      Whilst there have been many Star Wars novels written over the years that take place before, during and after the events of the six Star Wars movies, "Path Of Destruction" [set 1000 years before the time of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader] is the first full length novel to go this far back into the official Star Wars timeline. It is also the first book in a trilogy of novels which explore the life of the legendary Sith Lord ... Darth Bane.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      The novel begins by introducing the reader to the troubled character of Dessel ... a young man who has been bullied and abused by his father for years and now works deep underground excavating rare minerals on the desolate planet of Apatros. He hates his life and dreams only of escape. One night, however, a card game turns ugly and results in violence and Dessel finds himself on the run from Republic Forces. As a wanted man he has nowhere to run. He leaves his old life behind and vanishes into the ranks of the Sith Army and joins the bloody war against the Republic and its Jedi champions.
      It is not too long, however, that the Sith Lords realise that Dessel has an exceptional command of the Force ... he is a resourceful sudent, a brutal fighter and a cunning strategist. The Sith Masters quickly realise that Dessel has a greater Destiny ahead of him.
      Dessel becomes a member of the Sith Academy and starts to study the secrets Dark Side ... and it is not long before his new identity "Bane" emerges !!! Bane, however, is more intelligent and ruthless than even his Sith Masters realise. His greatest test awaits him ... and a future that could lead him to unlimited power or complete destruction.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

      Path of Destruction is a masterpiece. It is a novel that has a fascinating main character, an extremely powerful story line and a number of very dramatic twists and turns along the way. It is also the first ever Star Wars novel that provides a full and comprehensive exploration of the history of the Brotherhood Of The Sith as well as introducing Bane's female Sith Apprentice "Darth Zannah".

      Darth Bane: Path Of Destruction is also a book that anyone can pick up (it's NOT just a book for Star Wars fans). It works well as a "stand alone" sci-fi novel as it fully introduces the reader to the history of the Old Republic (and the war between the Jedi and the Sith) in a way that requires no prior knowledge to enjoy the events of this story.

      It is a classic tale of Good Versus Evil but told from the point of view where the evil character (Darth Bane) is actually the hero of the tale !!! It is a book which makes you question the idea of Nature versus Nurture and explores the whole concept of fulfilling your destiny (in a similar way that Star Wars movies did but took almost 20 years to wrap up).

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      If you have never read a Star Wars novel then Darth Bane: Path Of Destruction is an ideal starting point as it is a genuinely fascinating tale which is fast paced, action packed and has some truly great characters. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone ... you will not be disappointed !!!
