To say James Patterson is prolific is a bit like saying the sun is a bit warm. The man seems to have a new book out virtually every other week. Step on a Crack seeks to introduce us to a new character - tough, New York Cop Michael Bennett, who has 10 adopted children and whose wife is dying of cancer. As if that wasn't enough, a gang of kidnappers have trapped a group of celebrities in New York's cathedral and are demanding an eighty million dollar ransom. There are definite signs here that Patterson is getting lazy in his old age. In particular, Patterson seems to think he has discovered a magic formula for writing books that guarantees a place on ... Step On A Crack is a James Patterson novel that introduces us as his readers to a new character: NYPD homicide detective Michael Bennett. This is one of Patterson's collaborative novels, where he co-writes the story with another author. This time it's Michael Ledwidge writing with him, and the result is actually quite good. Michael Bennett is a busy man. He has 10 kids and his wife is lying in hospital with her survival in the balance and up in the air. So, the last thing he needs is for the funeral servie of a former first lady going wrong and over 30 extremely important, influential and publicly known people being held as hostages by a gang of unknown ... We’ve met Alex Cross. We’ve Met Lindsay Boxer. Now meet Michael Bennett. For those of you who have read my previous reviews you will know that I am an avid reader and am a huge fan of the great James Patterson. Apart from two of his books, I have loved all of the others and thankfully Step on A Crack falls into the latter and doesn’t disappoint. On hearing that Patterson would be releasing a new series (which was quite expected after hearing that the conclusion of the Alex Cross series would soon be on our shelves) the first of which to be co-written with Michael Ledwidge, author of 'Before the Devil knows you're dead' another book I thoroughly ...
