In a turn away from my Roman reads , i picked up my very first Chris Ryan book in the weekly shop. This book may be recognisable to some of you as it recently got turned into a tv series, although this tells two other stories , as well as the one in the book.
John porter was one of the uk's top SAS serviceman, he's now a broken man, living rough on the streets of london.
But in beirut a young tv reporter , Katie Darmouth, has been captured by terrorists. She is set to be executed unless soldiers are pulled from Iraq.
The link , Porter is the only man in Britanin who knows who her capture is and how to save her.
The story was very exciting, although reading other reviews many pointed out plot holes. These people were taking the book way too seriously for what it is and you need to look at it as all out action and excitement. None of the apparent plot holes are tottaly obvious and take away from the story, in fact if I hadn't of read about them I wouldn't of seen them. The story does flow and is a page turner which will see you hurridley turning to find out what will happen.
The writing is strong and easy to read, you dont need to really think and it allows you to enjoy the rollercoaster of excitement.
The characters are all written well and you do care about what happens to them, you have your favourites but they change as the writing twists. As my first book of this type It was entertaining and am hoping to read more , as the style is a nice break away from the usual.
Available on amazon for the sum of £5, which is a good price for this paperback at 474 pages.
The sort of book you can read on holiday or over a few train journeys , will keep you intrested right to the end.
