Stephen Levitt wrote an enthralling book a couple of years back called 'Freakonomics', a must read for cynics and intelligent people alike, usually one of the same in my experience. It was all about statistical anomaly and how that can be applied, rather surprisingly, to our environment and every day lives, rather than in more practical and scientific ways, which is what this book by Jeffrey S Rosenthal is all about.
