Remember reading my revierw on the Counting Crows album "This Desert Life"? (If not go take a peeky at that two would you sweety :-P), well this too was bought in a Carlislian (that the word?) charity shop that same day for something like £2 (considering I paid £2.90 for a pint this seems a bargain). However I do have a load with the book which I'll get onto after a quick outline. Michael Moore, best known for polotical movies such as "Bowling for Columbine" and "Farenheit 9/11" and new release "Sicko" was apparently an author before he became a big time movie dudey...he was still big when he was writing books (just look ... This book is now possibly a little dated and is primarily aimed at an American audience. It presents a satirical analysis of a number of issues relating to how 'Stupid White Men' are running the United States of America and in effect the rest of the world. Given that the main targets are Bush and co. who are still in power, the book probably still is worth a read. Each chapter focuses on a different American related issue. These include G. W. Bush's coup d'état, the controversy surrounding the election 9/11 attacks and the relationship between the Oil Industry, the Bin Laden family and the Bush regime. There is also a fascinating insight into the US prison ... Read the complete review

Having enjoyed a couple of Michael Moore films I was interested to see what his written work is like so I arranged a book swap through readitswapit.co.uk to get a copy of Stupid White Men. For those not in the know about whom Michael Moore is and his work well he is first and foremost in my opinion an American political activist. In a country whose political landscape is either right wing or middle of the road leaning to the right Moore can comfortably be found to the left of those in the Republican and Democratic Party. He is probably best known as a film maker with his latest film Sicko a commentary on the state of the health service in the States however ... Read the complete review

Micheal Moore, director of Bowling for Columbine, Presenter of TV Nation and scourge of the US establishment has a written a funny, exuberant and irreverent book on the state of the USA, and a book that is deeply relevant to what is happening on our own little island. The book is an anti-love affair in the main with George W. Bush, but also Corporate America. His starting point and running theme is the coup d’etat by Dubya. The stealing of the Presidency from Al Gore in 2000, where along with the help of his brother and his Dad’s friends in the Supreme Court, Bush managed to stop the recount that would have handed Gore the White House. He ... Read the complete review

Michael Moore writes about politics and the state of America in this political book STUPID WHITE MEN. Michael Moore has made mny documentaries on various aspects of American society that have been very controversial and it is no different in this book. The book consists of 281 pages of 12 chapters of various lengths. In each chapter Moore highlights his grievances over certain sectors of America. The opening chapter focuses on the Florida voting scandal where Moore is convinced that George Bush lost to Al Gore, but was voted in because it was fixed. He then goes on to discuss that society shouldn't be scared of the mixed race society, but actually ... Read the complete review
