This was a puzzling comic book. Here you have four tales featuring Jor-el, Lois Lane, Ma Kent and Led Luthor. Each one attempts to connect the previous Reeve movies with Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. For me this book highlights the problems with the look of Superman Returns, namely that it didn't know whether or not to replicate the Reeve films or redesign. Therefore the artists in this book has a tough time preparing art that looks like it is linked to either of the movie, so instead we have something that is more reminscient of a regular Superman comic book. Back in 2006 we welcomed back Superman into our cinemas in the film Superman Returns; I myself thoroughly enjoyed it and felt keeping the main characters likeness to Christopher Reeve was the right thing to do. Just before the release of the film, DC comics released 4 prequels to the film in comic book form, the help increase box officer sales which sold out very quickly but have been collected together in this book. While it is outside the main DC continuity this book contains some well written Superman related stories which really do add more depth to the film.
