Have you ever tried to read aloud one (just one) chapter a day of one of your favourite books? If you haven't, take my advice and don't bother, unless, like me, you have children and have to - it doesn't work, you just can’t do it. I've been rather busy for the last three weeks. I've had to read The Sword in the Stone every day, ALL of it. This is the problem with the whole chapter-a-day thing. How can you stop at one chapter? You have to read the whole book until it's finished. Obviously. And the thing is, on day two of reading aloud, having reached the end of chapter two, you have to read it all again AGAIN. Obviously.
