The Bloody Ground - Bernard Cornwell
by samueltyler - written on 10/05/07 (Very useful, 93 readings)
Rating:
Despite the many flaws with the book, ‘The Bloody Ground’ is a pacey and exciting read. I would not recommend it as one of Cornwell’s best but for completeists it is a must. I had the feeling from the book that too much was unresolved and also I felt that too much emphasis was placed on the end battle and not the characters story. Overall, an average read, especially by Cornwell’s standards. Author: Bernard Cornwell Price: amazon uk - £5.29 play.com - ...

Rebel - Bernard Cornwell
by sandemp - written on 07/12/06 (Very useful, 421 readings)
Rating:
I guess I was first drawn to Bernard Cornwell s novels by watching the hugely popular series of television films staring Sean Bean as Sharpe. As I d enjoyed watching the series and enjoy reading I guessed (correctly as it happens) that I would find the books an enjoyable way of spending a few hours. Having read the complete Sharpe series I decided to move onto the Starbuck Chronicles of which this, Rebel, is the first of four books. As the conflict between the Northern and Southern states explodes into the American Civil War, the son of Northern preacher and abolitionist Elial Starbuck finds himself in the dangerous position of being the hands of the Southern mob in ...

Sharpe's Fury - Bernard Cornwell
by samueltyler - written on 13/02/07 (Very useful, 92 readings)
Rating:
I urge you to try and read them in chronological, or at least written order, as the best books are the prequels and earliest written. As much as I have enjoyed the Sharpe novels over the past years I do think that it is perhaps time that he hangs up his sword and Cornwell concentrates on writing about other areas of history as he is perfectly capable of doing. In short, one for the fans. Author: Bernard Cornwell Price: amazon uk - £10.69 play.com - ...
