***Background*** Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler have compiled quite a lot of books in the past putting clever rhymes and fun pictures together to make fantastic reads for young children. Of course Julia Donaldson is well known for stories such as The Gruffalo but this one doesn't seem to be so widely known. I picked this up from a discount bookstore for my 9month old baby girl (who loves lift the flap books and this was the only one in the shop). It was £2.99, but the recommended retail price on the back is £12.99 so I got myself a bargain! It's a joint effort by Julia Donaldson (writer) and Axel Scheffler (illustrator), and we have many of their other books in our collection so I knew this would be a hit with my kids. It's a bit more basic than their other books, with only 4 lines of large rhyming text per page, so it's perfect for a younger child, as well as an older one (both my 9 month old and my 2 ½ year old adore it).
