When you enjoy a particular writer's work you start to look forward to their new releases. When this book came out I was sure that it would be a worthy read and it didn't fail to please. The story starts with Ria and her family including her charming husband Danny Lynch. Ria is the homely wife who some call pretty but never beautiful. Her best friend however, can have any man because she is just so striking as well as being a successful business woman. There are a variety of other background characters such as Gertie who cleans Ria's house so that she can provide her husband with drinking money. Colm who owns the local restaurant and uses Ria's ... I love reading! I will read anything from the back of a cornflake packet to a year old copy of Horse and Hounds in my dentists! It is a sheer thrill to find book that you can totally immerse and lose yourself in. it is a brillaint means of escape from the hum drum of life, or an excellent way to unwind at the end of a hectic day! This is the first book review I have done on DooYoo, it is not a subject I find easy. I mean how do you give an overall idea of what the book is about without spoiling the plot for would be readers? Anyway I am about to give it a go. Please be gentle with me, it is my first time! Okay, introduction over here goes... ... Read the complete review

And it gripped me! I couldn’t put it down for the 3 days it took me to read from cover to cover. The characters are totally believable – you want to give them a shake sometimes, but that’s how people are! The story concerns Ria, who meets and marries her dream man at a young age. They build up a wonderful home together and have a couple of children, and Ria’s life centres on her home, family and friends. Meanwhile, husband Danny is pursuing a ... Read the complete review

Maeve Binchy’s books and wonderful but this would have to be the best. it is a full-length novel - her short stories are wonderful too but they leave you wanting more! She makes you believe you're in Ireland and involves you in the lives of her characters to the extent that you are sorry to have the story end. Is is the type of story that is comforting and warm hearted. or the coast. Relationships with aquaintainces and friends and family are very important to maeve and it shows so in these books. circle of friends is also a very good book but this one tops the league. the characters in this book are believing and dont seem made up whenever you get into their ...
