I was recently introduced to Harlan Coben's novels and it's been a long time since I found an author can hold me from the first page and keep me gripped right through the book - at last I have found one!
I have read around 5 of his books so far and eagerly scour Ebay etc to buy all his novels as I know ive got to read them all now!
Tell No One is the last one I read and is the story of Dr David Beck and his wife Elizabeth who met and fell in love as kids, got married and return each anniversary to the tree where they shared their first kiss, to carve another notch on the tree. Now that's all a bit sickly sweet isn't it, but suddenly whilst celebrating their 13 th anniversary at this spot, they go for a dip in the lake and this is when Elizabeth disappears as David is knocked unconcious. He awakes to find her gone. Her body is found, she has been brutally murdered.
He tries to pick up the pieces and move on with his life, but 8 years on as he realises he may never be able to move on and be happy ever again, he receives a mysterious email, which when he opens it loads up a picture of his wife and the message 'tell no one'.
Beck embarks on a hunt believing his 'dead' wife may not be dead after all, but finds himself quickly becoming the hunted.
There follows a lot of twists and turns as more emails appear and it becomes apparent that all is not as it seems regarding the circumstances surrounding his wife's murder. I simply could not put this down and it kept me guessing right until the end.
I would begin to think I had worked it out, only to turn the page and realise I was wrong!
I am not going to spoil it for anyone by revealing the ending - you'll just have to read it yourself, and maybe you too will develop an addiction to everything he has written!
I understand this book has been made into a film. I would like to see it, although like so many films I doubt it will be as good as the book.
For anyone who likes a good thriller that keeps you guessing until the end I highly recommend Harlan Coben. I can't read them fast enough!
Summary: Unputdownable thriller!
