Ten Wriggly Wiggly Caterpillars.....
This book was a hand me down from one of my friends children to Jack. When we first had the book given to us it was certainly one that Jack loved the most out of all his books as it was the one he would keep bringing to me to read to him.
I have seen the book for sale since being given it in Tesco's for around £6 a price that I feel is pretty reasonable.
The book is a hardback book and the pages inside are somewhere between paper and board. They are not so heavy duty as board pages but they are a lot tougher than the average paper pages. The little caterpillars that are on each page are made of plastic and are raised slightly off of the pages and poking through to the next page.
The book is basically about ten caterpillars. We follow the caterpillars through the book and on each page we seem to loose one of them. The words to the story are written in a lovely sing song type manner and the rhyming affect really is soothing and fun to say.
We count down from ten caterpillars all the way down to one caterpillar. On the final page however we get back all ten but not as caterpillars as beautiful butterflies! The butterflies are done in pop up style which makes for a really magical ending.
The book as a whole is really wonderful. The story is easy to follow and because of the rhyming style of writing it makes it great for reading out loud. The colourful pictures in the book make it a joy to look at the pictures and because of the caterpillars being plastic and raised up this gives jack something to feel as well. The ending to the book has been thought of well and does make for a good ending.
I would say this book is a great one and well worth a five star rating and a high recommendation! Jack loves this book and so do I.
I hope this has been of some help thanks for taking the time to read.
Summary: a good book for the collection
