Advantages: Great book good read
Disadvantages: none
The Testament is a little different from the two other books of Grishams I have read as in there isn’t as much legalise in it, in fact in parts it becomes a little “Raiders for the lost Ark ”. The book is about an eighty year old Billionaire that decides to leave nothing to his ex-wives and 6 children from those marriages and he lets himself be scrutinised by three psychiatrists before he signs his latest will and testament. After he proves that he is of sound mind and they leave, he produces another will and testament, which he signs and is witnessed by his lawyers and a manservant before throwing himself out the window and plunging to his death. In his will his entire worth $11 Billion is left to his illegitimate daughter who happens to me a missionary in deepest darkest Brazil. This where the main character steps in “Nate”, Nate is a lawyer recovering form substance abuse and is sent to Brazil to seek out and find this daughter. In doing so Grisham in his writing shows you an insight to the Brazilian Jungles and wildlife there which was quite interesting and informative. On finding her she refuses the monies and makes Nate swear he won’t tell anyone where she is, to which he agrees. Mean while the surviving children all being drunks drug abusers and generally not pleasant people contest the will and try and grasp the Billions for themselves. There is not as many twists and turns in this Grisham novel as there usually is but that is made up by the real underlying story line, which is about money and greed. I could go on but then I would properly spoil it for you but I would recommend you read it to decide yourself. I got it from the library so couldn't tell how much it is selling for now, anyway support your local library before you lose it.
