Advantages: Lots of action

Disadvantages: predictable ending

This is the first John Grisham book I've read, and the action certainly moves along at a quick pace.
It focuses on the last will and testament of Troy Phelan, one of America's richest men. His will disposes of his $11bn fortune, and his greedy and dissolte heirs are up to their eyeballs in debt and desperate to get their hands on the money. So when he leaves the bulk of his fortune to an unknown, illegitamate daughter working as a missionary in the Brazillian rainforest, all hell breaks loose.
The story alternates between an alcoholic lawyer's search for the missionary (near death experiences and soul searching in the Pantanal) and the machinations of the heirs and their lawyers, who are trying to contest the will.
It is a gripping story and quite entertaining, but the characters are two dimensional and the ending is ultimately very predictable.
