Advantages: Characters descriptions

Disadvantages: The end isn't very exciting

The Testament is the last John Grisham romance I have read and, even if I liked it, I think it isn’t as good as some others he wrote. In fact during all the story we haven’t the tension that characterize the other Grisham’s book I have red. Moreover in this book the final isn’t strong like in others, like for example The Partner or The Firm. Well, there is one surprise, but nothing like that others. In fact the ending of the story is quite banal or, at least, not enough surprising.
Very good is the beginning, written in first person by the author of the testament Troy Phelan. We can feel the disperation of this man who have bilions of dollars but doesn’t want to live any more. He look back to his life with regret and he consider his soons a mass of miserable… he wasn’t wrong… Anyway he is conscious that in the catastrophic ending of his private life he is one of the major responsibles. It's very sad!
The descriptions, both phisical and psicological, of all the characters is another very good quality of the romance. In particolar we have Troy Phelan, which we can meet gradually during the story even if he is died and the character I think is the protagonist, Nate O’Riley. I said “I think” because in this book I didn’t find a true protagonist, because the very protagonist is the testament! Indeed all the story turns around it and Nate, like all the others characters, appear only like contour. Nate however is very important not only for his part in representing Phelan’s will, but because during the story he bacome a new men: from an alcoholic to a new man more strong but, more important, quiet. We see all his strenghts and his weakness and we see his journery, both geographic and psicological, that will lead him to his healing.
The story is the description of Phelan's soons that want to receive a big part of their father's fortune, while the Testament destine ALL to an
unknown illegittimate daughter. She is Reachel Lane, a missionary who lives in the secluded brazilian forest.
Well I think that to say more would spoil your reading so I prefear to stop my considerations. Finally, even if I read more interesting and exiting books, I think equally that this one is a very good and innovating book. Don’t lose it!
