Advantages: a good touchy book
Disadvantages: none at all
If you cannot read it really can hold you back and you miss out on so much in life, so therefore it is lovely to get children interested in books at a very early age and the earlier the better.
That's not my bear is just the book to buy for a very young child to look at and get used to seeing words and a bit older to help read.
This book is called a touchy-feely book
You dont even have to open the book to see why as on the cover there is a picture of a kaola bear and the nose is cut out and replaced by black hard material that is probably plastic but when you put your fingers over it it is hard and tough. Under it is written its nose is too rough.
The book itself measures 6 and a half inches by 6 and a half inches and the pages are board. There are 12 pages. The pictures are really bright and on each page there is a patch of different texture.
On the first page it has paws that are soft, the picture is of a grizzly and if your children are a bit older they will know and point out the bees and the mouse on his head.
All the pictures are on double pages.
The second page has a panda which is fuzzy,
Third has a scratchy tongue,
4th the same as the front but his nails are too shiny
5th you find the bear with his ears fluffy.
When your child gets to be able to read, this will be a good book to start with although I do feel that by that time they will know the words off by heart and be able to memorize the word hense help with reading.
It is written by Fiona Watt and illustrated so very nicely by Rachel Wells.
My Grand daughter loves this book and never tires of me reading it to her and her fingering all the textures. Also as it is board the book doesnt look as if it is looked at a lot, although it is, or tatty with wear.
I would definately recommend these books.
Thank you for reading. x
Summary: A good book to get your child to start loving books
