“That’s Not My Car” is a good book for 1-3 year olds as it is very simple, easy to read, short and has interesting images. The best part of this touchy-feely series is the textured parts on the pages, which toddlers can touch while a parent reads the story. For example, on the front cover is a picture of a car with shiny textured windows for the toddlers to touch and it reads “That’s not my car…its windows are too shiny.” The other textures in the book are smooth, rough, lumpy, bumpy and squishy. This series of books has different textures and specialities for each book – I also own “That’s Not My Fairy” and it has frizzy hair and bumpy slippers and so on. ... This book is one of my favourites from the Usbourne Touchy-Feely books. The titles in the 'That's Not My...' series are written by Fiona Watt and illustrated by Rachel Wells. They all follow the same format. The story starts on the front cover with each new page showing a picture of an object with an explanation as to why it's not the right one, e.g that's not my car, it's windows are too shiny. The part of the object being referred to, in this case the windows, are made out of some sort of touchy feely material which matches the description [so a chicken that is too 'fluffy' might be covered in fake fur]. This aspect of the books makes them great fun to share with ... Read the complete review

Our grandson has had the Usborne touchy-feely series "That's Not My" by Fiona Watts since he was a year old. He's four now and he still really likes these books even now. The books start out as a good introduction to books and then become useful in teaching little ones descriptive terms as they grow older. Also, these are all board books so they're suitable from a few months of age. That's Not My Car is another "That's Not My" book which has been written by Fiona Watts and illustrated by Rachel Wells. It's only £2.49 on Amazon at the moment so it's definitely a bargain buy if you get it while it's on sale. Usually it costs £4.99 though ... Read the complete review

It's a sturdy board book with nice thick pages. The book is a nice small size for a toddler to hold. It has 6 pages although the story starts on the front. The illustrations are bright and bold. On each page there is a textured bit to feel. The story goes like this: That's not my car, it's windows are too shiny Then on each page, another reason why - it's wheels are too bumpy etc And then finally "that's my car!" It is very predictable which is what toddlers love so much. They can learn the words and catch you out, too. Also on each page is the little mouse who is looking for his car. Toddlers ... We first came across this book when it was bought for us when our 4 year old William was 2. The book is a hard cardboard thick board book, and is designed to help kids from 1-3 increase their vocabulary with interesting drawings and helping by them feeling the page and associating a word with a feeling. That's Not My Car is one of the less interesting ones for William. He has tried pretty much all of the books in the range, known as the Touchy Feely range of books froim Usborne, but this one doesn;t hold as much interest to him as some of the others such as That's Not My Dragon (his favourite) or That's Not My Kitten. The front of the book, as you ... Read the complete review
