Advantages: Colourful, Durable and Fun

Disadvantages: Not Great Touchy-Feely Bits

Our grandson has had the Usborne touchy-feely series "That's Not My" by Fiona Watts since he was a year old. He's four now and he still really likes these books even now. The books start out as a good introduction to books and then become useful in teaching little ones descriptive terms as they grow older. Also, these are all board books so they're suitable from a few months of age.

That's Not My Car is another "That's Not My" book which has been written by Fiona Watts and illustrated by Rachel Wells. It's only £2.49 on Amazon at the moment so it's definitely a bargain buy if you get it while it's on sale. Usually it costs £4.99 though you can sometimes get it on 3 for 2 at Waterstones.

This book features a green car on the front cover with the title "That's not my car..." followed by "it's windows are too shiny". The little green car has shiny silver windows that little eyes and hands can take in. I don't really feel this book is quite as touchy-feely as some of the others in the series because they do seem to like using shiny and smooth as touchy-feely panels in this one!

There are some really good bits though including a lovely bumpy radiator grill on a pink car that's sure to appeal to girl readers and my grandson's favourite bit, the bumpy hubcaps.

This isn't the greatest book in the series but the series as a whole is so great that I have to give this four stars anyway! It's a lovely way to introduce young children to books and older tots, especially boys, will love the use of car words and have fun guessing the textures for each page too.
