Advantages: Grabs their attention, involves the child
Disadvantages: None we can find
I am amazed how this book has captured my daughters attention. She is 8 months old and most books just want to go straight in her mouth - but she actually wants to sit and read this one!
It starts on the front cover with "That's not my fairy...her dress is too shiny" and the dress of the fairy is slightly padded in a shiny material. The dress gets touched and studied before she grabs the cover to open the book! To find "That's not my fairy...her wings are too fluffy" with lovely pink fluffy wings that get pawed over! Then with a little bit of help from Mummy she turns the page to find "That's not my fairy...her slippers are too bumpy" with pink shiny bumpy textured slippers to be explored, we then get "That's not my fairy...her crown is too shiny", this one seems to get passed over quite quickly for some reason but the shiny crown does get fingered. We then move on to "That's not my fairy...her haor is too frizzy" with brown fairy hair made of felt material, which again she loves to stroke. Finally we get too "That's my fairy!...her wand is so sparkly" with a lovely shiny holographic star to be pondered over - before we start all over again!
I got this book second hand and it is still in very good condition so they seem to be sturdy books. The pages are thick board and the books are easy for little fingers to manipulate as they aren't too big or heavy.
The pages close well, the fluffy one does raise a bit but not enough to cause any storage problems.
Summary: A fab little book.
