Advantages: Great for children to touch and discover new textures.

Disadvantages: None

That's not my monster is a children's book that is published by Usborne. It is written by Fiona Watt and illustrated by Rachel wells. That's not my... is a collection of books and each one features something different.

The book measure 17cm by 17cm and is a hard board book making it virtually impossible to be ripped, torn or destroyed by little fingers!!

I purchased four of the that's not my... books from Play.com for my son at Christmas, they had a special deal on at the time and I purchased all four for £12. The price on the back of each book is £5.99, so I think if bought separately this is what you would pay for them.

That's not my book collections are all touchy feely books which are aimed at very young children and help them to develop their sense of touch and language awareness. Each page has a different texture for the child to feel.

On the front cover of that's not my monster it has a big green monster and it says 'That's not my monster, its nose is too bobbly' and on the monsters nose there is green bobbly material for your little one to feel. As you turn the pages it always has the same sentence to start with - 'That's not my monster' but always ends differently as in 'Its eyebrows are too hairy' and whatever the sentence describes the relevant part will be made up of material for your child to feel that describes the sentence.

There are five pages to this book that all give different textures to feel. The very last page says 'That's my monster, its ears are so fluffy' and the monsters ears are made of really fluffy material.

My son adores these books, the pages are thick enough so that he can turn them over and he really loves to feel all the different textures and to discover the different noises that the textures make when he scratches them with his nails!!

Summary: A great book to read to your little one
