I've been reading these books with the boys lately because Elijah is just getting interested in sitting and looking and in my opinion these are ideal for his age. This book is one of a touchy-feely series that is written by Fiona Watt and illustrated by Rachel Wells. The book takes the reader through a selection of different pirates, giving a reason as to why they aren't the right one and finally at the end you are presented with the right pirate. The book is very simple with hardly any words which makes it a quick and easy read for a young tot who can't sit still for very long. These books are also a big hit with Noah even though he is ... This is the first book I bought from the That's not my... range of books from Usborne. They have a RRP of £5.99 each but M&S had them on offer before Christmas for less than that and I got this and That's not my lion... for £5 in the Asda Baby Event this week. I am sure you can probably shop around for an even better bargain but when I spotted them on offer I could not resist as I had heard lots of good things about the range from friends. I buy lots and lots of books for my son as I love reading and would like to get him interested in it from a young age too. We have a sleepy story just before bed and a lively action or pop-up story at some point throughout the day. ... Read the complete review

Since the Pirates of the Caribbean series of films, pirates have seen a resurgance in popularity again, and they've now made their way into the that's not my range. We have this book, and I feel a bit awkward explaining how pirates really make a living to my son (only joking). But really, isn't it an odd topic? Or is it just me? The box presents you with six pirates, all of which don't belong to the narrator, because they have some distinguishing characteristic that identifies them as not his. For example 'his scarf is too rough'. Each pirate also has a touch and feel part to them (so the scarf is made of sand-paper like material). It's a book that ... Read the complete review

The children's book I will now review is the second of the two that my son purchased with his Christmas money in the Asda sale I have referred to in previous reviews. The book I will now review is "That's not my pirate" by Usborne. My son is 3 ½ years old and is moving from the baby things over to young boy things, and out of nowhere this obsession with pirates and all things "ooh arr!" has appeared! This obsession involves buying or having absolutely everything in the range, and boy is there a lot! I have had to finally remove the cutlass from his toy box that Santa saw fit to bestow upon him at Christmas in our ... Read the complete review

Thats not my pirate is one of the many "thats not my" series of books for children from new borns onwards. They all share the same characteristics of bring bright, bold and have pages made of cardboard so survive a bit longer than other books when little fingers start to destroy things. The books all have a little white mouse who is looking for his ..... in this case its his pirate, on each page is a picture of a pirate and the reason why the pirate isn't my pirate. With each picture is a tactile reason for that not to be the case, the pirate can have a rough scarf, a shiny shirt, glimmering cutlass, a rough hat etc. These are always things which can ...
