Land of the Living - Nicci French
gripping, genuinely scary genuinely scary!

Really Rude Rhino - Jeanne Willis
A starting point for discussing manners & politeness with children. Humorous element for children. Young children may find the rhino so funny that they begin to copy his rudeness!

Ottoline and the Yellow Cat - Chris Riddell
fantastically produced, entertaining, funny, surreal, literate slight

The Death List - Paul Johnston
gruesome murders, reasonably sensible police, and a lead who could be real a bit too gruesome at times

Making Money - Terry Pratchett
Great characters, interestinf story Too clever for its own good at times, pacing issues

Knife Edge - Malorie Blackman
Well written, heart-wrenching - profound racial messages... Doesn't have as much impact as first in the series.

Primal Scream: Scream If You Want, Live If You Can - Michael Slade
Great plot twists and turns as always and a cracking conclusion to unresolved issues Those not familiar with the first book, Head Hunter, may feel as though they are missing something..

The Somnambulist - Jonathan Barnes
A large range of interesting, if one-dimensional, characters; easy to read Silly, lacks any real depth or development

Black Rabbit Summer - Kevin Brooks
atmospheric; realistic characters; engaging plot bad language and violence may be off - putting for younger readers

The Coma - Alex Garland
An eerie, dark novella There is no plot twist; too pricey for its size
