Our protagonist, Dr Amin Jaafari is a naturalised Israeli. He left his arabic Bedouin heritage behind in order to pursue his career as a surgeon and a luxurious lifestyle with his wife, Sihem, in Tel Aviv. Following an explosion in a crowded diner, Amin works feverishly to save the wounded and maimed at the hospital. Emotionally and physically exhausted from lengthy surgeries and the trauma, he heads home; his journey interrupted several times by the aggressive prejudice against arabs of the Israeli police, who are on overdrive due to the day's events.
