 ... lot of interesting facts that children can discover. Age range: Although the books are aimed at children in the 9-12 age bracket, I do think it is suitable for anybody older too. It is a nice and easy way to get to grips with a new topic that is thrown at you before you start trying to unravel the hard and complicated facts! Also, it makes good revision too since it is a nice size. The book has 128 pages, which may seem a lot, but a lot of it is taken up by cartoon strips and such like, so it really is not bad at ...more

Terry Deary is a fantastic author. He is famous for his collection of books known as 'Horrible Histories'. These books cover a wide range of topics in History and are supposed to make learning fun for children. One of these is Awesome Egyptians. Plot: This particular book takes us back in time to the time when the Egyptians were around. It's one of the original books by Deary but despite being older it still displays fantastic work. The pictures inside are delightful and there are a lot of interesting facts that children can discover. Horrible Histories is a range of books aimed at getting kids interested in history by telling them the whole truth - with all the awful horribleness that “teachers don’t like to tell you”. So, basically it’s a school textbook with added squishiness and comedy factor. They’re priced at £4.99 each retail, but I got a box set of ten from The Book People (you know, the people that visit the workplace) for £10. The set includes such other titles as “The Angry Aztecs”, “The Ruthless Romans”, and “The Blitzed Brits”.
