If you ever see a copy of Rage in a single volume - buy it - they are now rare and a collectors treasure! The remaining three stories are: ROADWORK - A really upsetting book for anyone who loves their house. Made me cry. It is not scary in the monster set of the word, but very distressing. Premium Review The Bachman Books - Four Early Novels by Stephen King: Wonderul and deeply upsetting (391 words)

Rating:

Why Was I Bachman? A question Stephen King answers in the introduction - he gives no good answer. Why not? Seems to be it really. It is important to realize that the Bachman books are slightly different from the other King books. They were written my an angry young man, they are generally darker than his other books, and don't count on a happy ending. This edition is now out of print. If you buy 'The Bachman Books' now you will find a collection of 3 books. 'Rage' has been removed. RAGE (out of print) It is about a school shooting, and after a copy of the book was found in the locker of a teenager, Michael Carneal, who had shot ...  Read the complete review

The Bachman books are perhaps some of the lesser know Stephen King books. These were Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork, The Running Man and Thinner. The first four of these are collected in what has ...  Read the complete review

These are four King stories that are haunting enough to stay with you for awhile, but not quite as bright as his best. Did you see the Stephen King television miniseries movie, "Rose Red"? Shortly after viewing his most recent film, I read online that King is seriously considering hanging up his pen. Whether or not he will stop writing new material altogether is uncertain. He expressed possibly wanting to go out while he's still on top, or words to that effect. As a King fan, I take solace in his large body of work that's available. THE BACHMAN BOOKS is an early collection of four King novels. Until fairly recently, I didn't ...  Read the complete review
