easy to read, interesting none

Sputnik Sweetheart - Haruki Murakami
A readable love story with a twist, sprinkled with Murakami's ace signature trademark elements - plus good translation A little bit formulaic and grey, and ends abruptly. Not a new love venture for Murakami at all, and it's not one of his best works overall

Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
Gripping, Unpredictable Some might not like the fact that its style is Victorian rather than modern

Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut
Spans all manner of genres and subjects, but always memorably written Rather hard to get into Vonnegut's style at first

The Blind Watchmaker - Richard Dawkins
Gripping explanation of Evolution, you don't need to be a science geek to enjoy this! Written in '86, thus it doesn't include some recent discoveries in science

Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha - Roddy Doyle
Beautifully written, Funny, Very moving It'll probably make you cry

Thousands of years of history is a small volume! Difficult prose at times, lacks the genius of JRR to flesh out the stories
