The beano Annual - where to start?? Well ths really hasn't changed much since it was created in the 50's. It is still bought and loved by children of all ages. All children can relate to the boy in the striped jumper - namely Dennis the menace - however sophisticated children become ther can be no escaping the part of them that is naughty (in a good way) and wants to get their own back on adults. The other thing that never changes with this book is the really bad jokes - that's all part of childhood as well. They may have modern twist on some of them but they are still cringeworthy. Health / Medical - Peale, Norman Vincent
Blackberry Wine - Joanne Harris
easy to read, interesting
none
Sputnik Sweetheart - Haruki Murakami
A readable love story with a twist, sprinkled with Murakami's ace signature trademark elements - plus good translation
A little bit formulaic and grey, and ends abruptly. Not a new love venture for Murakami at all, and it's not one of his best works overall
Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
Gripping, Unpredictable
Some might not like the fact that its style is Victorian rather than modern
Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut
Spans all manner of genres and subjects, but always memorably written
Rather hard to get into Vonnegut's style at first
The Blind Watchmaker - Richard Dawkins
Gripping explanation of Evolution, you don't need to be a science geek to enjoy this!
Written in '86, thus it doesn't include some recent discoveries in science
Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha - Roddy Doyle
Beautifully written, Funny, Very moving
It'll probably make you cry
Harlequin - Bernard Cornwell

Mr Nice - Howard Marks
Interesting, funny, remarkable.
none.
The Silmarillion - J.R.R.Tolkien
Thousands of years of history is a small volume!
Difficult prose at times, lacks the genius of JRR to flesh out the stories
