Getting married is clearly one of the biggest decisions a man will ever make. It is also one of the biggest expenses he will ever encounter. The financial outlay may not be at the point of engagement, or even at the point of the wedding itself but it will certainly hit at some point. Having recently gotten engaged I decided it would make sense to seek some sort of advice and information (other than friends and family who were married of course). The more I looked around, the more this book started to grab my attention. So, one day, I ordered it. It was the princely sum of £7.99 but, shopping around it is possible to get it cheaper.

The book itself is not overly long at 254 pages but is packed with helpful information that I would recommend that any man in a relationship that looks likely to develop to the next level should read. There are some obvious topics covered such as what to consider when buying the engagement or wedding rings and picking where you and your beloved will be honeymooning.

There are also some subjects which are easily overlooked by alot of men; mostly of an organisational nature, of course. We're just not meant to organise weddings! I found Jon Smith's (and the various other sources he quotes) advice to be helpful and has made me consider things that I would have maybe ignored, overlooked, or just thought to inconsequential to have any impact. The whole book is written in a light hearted and humourous way and would appeal to most men (at least most men I know).

I felt that there were some things that should have been elaborated on but this does not claim to be a cover-all, comprehensive guide to wedded bliss so it's difficult to complain too much.

There is just one piece of advice that I would like to offer all men thinking of getting married that is not in the book:

DON'T DO IT!
