Advantages: A wonderful book

Disadvantages: I can't think of any

This is a truly wonderful book. It is written from a child's perspective in a beautiful way. The story is of 2 little boys who meet and become friends, crossing all sorts of boundaries. It is a heart wrenching and thought provoking read.

What I love about this book is the mixture of child like simplicity in the way it is written with the intensity and seriousness of the subject matter. The author is making a very serious point about attitudes to others and he is clearly seeking to remind the reader of the travesties of the holocaust. However he manages to do this by writing a very simple story about a little boy who makes a friend on the other side of the fence - the little boy's friend is jewish.

I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone. It is not a long book and can be read quite quickly although I would say that you should savour each page.

Summary: This should definitely be on everyone's must read list
