Advantages: A really good book, in-depth and casptivating

Disadvantages: Complicated at the end!

As many of you know, by now, I have set myself a task to read all the point horror books I have. I am actually getting quite bored with them, which is shocking, however they are really good, and I have finished revising, so I have more time to read! I have 1 more Point Horror book left to review; I have read all of the Point Horror books I have. But recently, I have just received "Amy" by Samantha Lee, by www.bookcrossing.com so I'm really interested into getting my eyes upon those pages!

I am officially a massive fan of the Point horror books and I'm dreadfully upset to find out that they've gone and disappeared. I love the way these books are created and I think they are a real inspiration to everyone who would like to go down the author career route, as they are simple but brilliant. And if a publisher did the same as Point Horror has, then tonnes of new authors would find limelight. Famous authors (from the Point Horror series) include R.L. Stine (author of this book, but also see review on "Hit & Run"), Richie Tankersley Cusick (see reviews on "Trick or Treat" & "The Lifeguard"), Malcolm Rose & Caroline B. Cooney to name a few. Although there has been a few books from this series I've read that I thought the author should have became famous only they didn't, here's a few I think: Samantha Lee (Read Reviews on "Demon" & "Demon II"), Sinclair Smith (read review on "The Waitress"), Linda Cargill (read review on "The Dark"), Carmen Adams (read review on "The Claw") and D.E. Athkins (See review on "The Cemetery"). If Point Horror had lasted for a little longer I reckon these authors would have been famous, and I really feel for these authors, it usually is the ones whose books are quite possibly the better ones of the series.

I am not stereotyping there, well okay maybe I am just a little, but it is true, to some extent, look at all my ratings on R. L. Stine's Point Horror Books, they've been around 2 or 3 stars. But I do have to admit the series of books he is publishing now is a lot better, such as the new series of Goosebumps!

Am I a fan of R. L. Stine? I hear you ask, but my real answer isn't a yes, but also isn't a no. Maybe I'm a fan without knowing I'm a fan, if that makes sense at all! I have a hell of a lot of Goosebumps books, and I am trying to collect them all, based on the fact that I like reading books in order, and therefore Goosebumps has an order, for some reason. So if you count buying all the Goosebumps books, and trying to get all the Point Horror books (whether the author is R. L. Stine or not) then maybe I am a fan.

R. L. Stine is usually called "The Master of Horror". But to be honest, after reading a few of his Point Horror stuff, I have down-graded him, and I believe there is so many authors that are such better horror writers than he is!

This story is about a wealthy, beautiful, spoilt girl called Joanna Collier. She has everything she wants in life including her boyfriend Dex. But then she dumps him deciding he's not good enough for her. Only he doesn't even realise he's been dumped, and still wants to go out with her, so one night on the cliffs, Dex messes about and falls down, and he dies. Joanna goes to get help but puts herself in danger by being in a fatal car accident.

When she finally gets home, after all the hospital treatment, someone is there waiting for her. It's Dex. He's back from the dead and all he wants is one last date.

After reading that, you expect to be no culprit, which is the wrong thing to do reading this book, as it wastes soooooooo much time that you could of spent guessing who the culprit was. But I, stupidly enough, decided there was no culprit, and I got one hell of a shock towards the end!

I think this book was really good, but it got really complicated towards the end, and it was a repetition over and over again for Joanna and Dex, which really put my head in a spin, and to this day, I still haven't solved it, so writing this review hasn't either. Never mind, I'll just pass it on to my mom to read, and when she finally does (which might be over 1 year's time) she would probably say to me: "What's complicated about that?" Bit I have to wait a whole year!

I know I'm missing something from this review, but I can't think what! Please tell me if you know what I'm missing and how to make this a brilliant review! Anyhow, thank you all for reading, and rating and commenting, I am rating people's reviews, I hope I'm rating yours too!

Still can't believe you are merrily reviewing all the Point Horror books! I read some around 15 years ago, and always thought them rather formalaic, as with the various other Point series, but certainly enjoyable! Great review as usual.

I loved this book! It dealt more with human emotions than horror though. I did hate Joanna though. Ewwage. Excellent review.
