Evening Class by Maeve Binchy is not the sort of book I would normally chose. I prefer gritty, unusual stories with unexpected twists . As it happens the choice of english books in my local library is limited and there weren t any better options(I refuse to read Nora Roberts.) I thought I’d gone off Maeve Binchy – I usually prefer science fiction and fantasy. However, I picked up this book in the library and took it home for want of something more interesting. And it gripped me! I couldn’t put it down for the 3 days it took me to read from cover to cover. The characters are totally believable – you want to give them a shake sometimes, but that’s how people are! The story concerns Ria, who meets and marries her dream man at a young age. As is usual with Maeve Binchy all these characters have great depth and interact with each other on a regular basis. They all seem to be living a wonderfully happy life. Then one day, out of the blue, Danny tells Ria that he is leaving her for a slip of a girl that he has got pregnant !
