A quirky read, very lighthearted, great for fans of Sex and the City.

As a fan of Sex and the City I was eagerly awaiting the release of Candace Bushnell's latest, The Carrie Diaries. Set prior to Sex and the City, The Carrie Diaries tell the story of Carrie's senior year at Castlebury High - and how she found herself in New York.
Much as can be expected it featured many quotable lines similar to Sex and the City and is very relatable. It is lighthearted and a great mood lifter - the storyline isn't too heavy and so is great for a relaxing read.
All the characters are very relatable and this light storyline quickly becomes engrossing.
In typical Bushnell style there is a lesson to be learned - mostly, that boys are not to be trusted! The Carrie Diaries puts a quirky twist on this from from the point of view of the then naive Carrie, who is loveable even then. Although I wouldn't say this was Bushnell's best work it most definately is a good read for a fan of Sex and the City.

a fabulous read with love and life stories in the tradition of sex and the city!

I am a massive fan of Sex and the City so rushed straight out to buy this book, Its a definite must read for any fans! Don't be put off by the fact you will find this book in the teenage section of your local book shop!

We see Carrie as she struggles with boyfriends, friends, family problems and her aspirations to make it as a writer in new york while dealing with the usual problems of high school!

The book starts at the start of Carrie's final year of high school with the central storylines of a summer writing school in new york and the arrival of Sebastian Kydd (a good looking guy she has had a crush on since she was 12) at her high school. Sebastian is the one all the girls want and when Carrie gets him it lands her in trouble with the Queen Bee of the school! But is Sebastian really good for her and will her friendships last the year? And will she get on a place at the writing school she so desperately wants!

This book really shows how Carrie came to be the girl we all know and love from the original book and TV show, with sweet, funny and sometimes sad moments scattered throughout! Fans of the show will see similarities between her high school friends and charlotte, Miranda and Samantha as well as her love of crazy fashion! It is a fun and enjoyable read perfect for a relaxing night in with chocolate and ice cream or a read on the beach!

And watch out for the last few pages..... where readers will really see the connnection between the old and new carrie!
