Josie Welford is astounded when a young Chinese man flings himself into her local Church during a service, begging for sanctuary. Along with the local vicar, Father Martin, and a couple of other villagers, she provides Tang with a place to stay in the Church. However, some of the locals are unhappy about the arrangement; for all they know, Tang, who hardly speaks any English, could have committed a crime.
